What is Webflow?

Webflow is a tool for making websites, and the home they live in once they are made. One place for how the site looks, what it says and where it runs. Dropbox, Olympia and Urban Pubs and Bars all use it, and it is what I build every site on.

Why I use Webflow

I have built for the web on the big platforms, WordPress, Drupal and Umbraco among them, and Webflow is where I settled. Design, content and hosting live in one place, with nothing bolted on.

The difference is updating content and design at speed. I build the site into brand approved components, so your team can reuse them and put new pages together yourselves, without a developer, the delay or the cost. In the years I spent running estates of sites in-house, that would have been a dream.

The biggest reason is what it hands my clients. You edit the site on the page itself, click the text, type, press publish. No dashboard to learn, and content-only logins mean nobody can break the design.

What it means for your role

  • Marketing

The site is built as an approved component system, so marketing can spin up new pages and landing pages that are on brand by default, live the moment they are needed, no developer in the loop.

  • Content

Menus, events, prices and offers are edited in-house in minutes, stored once and updated everywhere they appear.

  • Integrations

Booking, ordering, CRM and marketing systems wire straight in. And if something you use has no ready-made connection, I can still connect it.

  • SEO and AEO

Everything search engines reward is built in. Automatic sitemaps, managed redirects and schema markup, all without plugins. The same structure is what AI answer engines read.

  • AI

AI is built into the platform. It drafts metadata, translates content into other languages, fills gaps and personalises pages, so the routine work happens quicker.

  • MCP

MCP connects AI tools like Claude and OpenAI straight to the site, its content and its design system. Describe what you want in plain English and the assistant does it, updating content at scale or answering questions about traffic.

Do I need a server?

No. Hosting is part of Webflow, your site lives there and Webflow looks after it. Underneath it runs on Amazon Web Services with Cloudflare’s network in front, the same foundations the internet’s biggest sites sit on. There is no server to rent, no IT to involve and nothing to maintain.

  • Zero maintenance, no updates to run or packages to install
  • Ready for traffic surges on busy days
  • SSL and TLS included on every site
  • DDoS and bot protection built in
  • Form spam filtered automatically
  • Vulnerability scanning, with fixes deployed automatically
  • Backed up continuously, restored in one click
  • SOC 2, CCPA and GDPR compliant
